Free Your Voice Weekend Workshop

Yes we can sing!

Version 3

About the workshop:

In this weekend workshop we invite you on a beautiful journey to connect with yourself and others through chanting, vocal toning, improvisational games, sound journey, sound meditation, rhythm and breathing practice and of course singing.
In a sacred space we will explore ourselves through the power of our voice and its healing vibrations.
There are no limitations and no judgments. We will sing, but its not only about singing.  Its more about being in the moment to embrace whatever we feel and can give or receive.  Whatever comes up is beautiful and acceptable.
We’ll experience the feeling when sounds start to harmonize and create our own pieces of music through listening, the art of silence and then adding something to it, our own little piece of sound. And of course its about joy, the joy of singing together, the joy of playing and not taking things too serious.

About the place:
For those who don’t know, Teatro Luna Azul is a magical place. Its an open air theater close to the beach, where we will be accompanied by the sound of bamboo trees and a refreshing ocean breeze.

Please bring your yoga mat, pillow and blanket, and comfy clothes which enable movement and stretching.

To open the space and celebrate it, we invite everyone to bring an item for the altar we create. Whether it is some gift of nature like a feather, stone or personal totem,  or anything that you appreciate.

Fresh purified water, tea and some fruits will be provided during breaks.

For the Earthday celebration we invite you to join our potlock dinner and bring your favorite dish. This will be on Sunday after the workshop.   Also we invite you to bring your instruments (if you play) and medicine plants like natural tobacco or incenses like copal and sage for offering to the fire.

Celebrate Winter Solstice

son semilla1 copySolstice Celebration at Teatro Luna Azul

We have something very special planned for Winter Solstice on Friday December 22/2017.  Music, Dance, Storytelling, Drums…   and more.

Come and enjoy a special Solstice show that combines ancient and modern myths, weaving a story of our origins through the four ages as told through the earth, the air, the water and the sun.

The stories will be told through masks, music and dance.

The music includes Afro-Latino music from Cuba, Brazil & Peru. Featuring traditional Latin beats such as Cumbia, Rhumba, Samba, as well as lively Jarocho music from Vera Cruz, which are all fusions of african rhythms with the stringed instruments of Spain, expressed through the indigenous cultures of Mexico and Latin America..

Dancers will be performing the traditional Campesino dance ‘Zapatero‘ – a Mexican ‘tap’ dance that comes from Flamenco. As well as African dancing and drumming.

Performed by the multi-talented ‘Son Semilla’ – playing traditional Cuban guitars – Jarana, as well as piano, saxaphone, drums. Singing both traditional and original songs.

Bring the whole family. Kids are two for one.

Amazing show!

Alice & Caterpillar (Saltzman)

Kudos to the cast and crew of

‘Alice Down the Rabbit Hole’

We are so grateful for the incredible feedback we received for our show ‘Alice’.  And so sad that we didn’t get to do them all.  Our actors had committed to be here for the published dates, and not all could wait another week.   We were able to video tape the show, so if you would like a copy please contact us.  For those who didn’t get to use their tickets, please contact us for  a refund.  Or you can use a ticket to get one of the video’s and then you will be able to see the show!

We have formed a group called Friends of Teatro Luna Azul, and we are committed to finding out why we are being stopped from putting on shows at our beautiful theater that was created for community events like this.  We have done everything the authorities asked,  jumped through many hoops, and still they want to stop us.  Our group is determined to get to the root cause of this problem and bring all the issues into the light so we can discuss and deal with them.

Contact us at bluemooninbaja@yahoo.com if you would like to help in any way, or just stay informed.

Special thanks to Robert Saltzman for this incredible photo.
